100 Women Who Care
Description: Kelly Edmonds started 100 Women Who Care Oxford in 2015 so that women who are dedicated to their community could make a difference. Members meet four times per year, bringing a cheque for $100, and listen to three presentations about local charities. A vote is held and the winning charity receives a donation from the organization. Though the membership hasn't yet reached 100, the Women Who Care are making a big difference. At the latest meeting at Ingersoll Golf Club, Victoria's Quilts Canada Woodstock-Oxford Branch were chosen by membership. The organization provides handmade quilts to people living with cancer. They even deliver them. It's expected the Woodstock-Oxford Branch will provide up to 150 quilts in the coming year. Others presenting included Operation Sharing Christmas Place, which provides hundreds of families with affordable gifts during the holiday season, and the Salvation Army Adopt-A-Family initiative, which last year helped 36 deserving families during the holiday season.
